Testimonal : Claude Wallis shows that persistance pays off

I have two sons who attend ‘SD School of Martial Arts’  as Korean Karate students as well as having a ‘one-to-one’  session for over six years now and continue to do so today.
My eldest son who has ‘Aspergers Syndrome and Dyspraxia’ originally found the whole experience quite daunting particularly in the group classes. However, with persistence and support from all the team members and staff, as well as attending one-to-one sessions has helped to turn this around.

The group classes, instructed  by ‘Sean Doyland’, uses the command  'focus' particularly towards my eldest son as he responds well to this. ('Focus' is also used by his teachers at his school’ as well as myself at home.) Other than teaching them to focus, he has also helped to improve their fitness levels, balancing skills, as well as build confidence and respect. Despite the fact that my eldest son rocks to~and~fro and can struggle to keep still at times, (though improving greatly) he is treated as an equal as the other students in the class. Sean Doyland is a great role model as both my sons look up and respect him as they see him as the master in Korean Karate and hopes to be like him one day.

The ‘one-to-one’ sessions taken by Mandy Hughes and Richard Hunter has also a huge impact on both my boys. Their unflagging enthusiasm, dedication towards him and displaying commendable tact and patience, also teaches them how to master their Kata and grading skills as well as fitness, respect and confidence. Both boys have said to me “Mandy and Richard corrects me when I do wrong, this helps me to get it right so I can do better in Korean Karate next time and get stronger.”

Attending SD School of Martial Arts has certainly been advantageous for both my sons. The school has exceeded all our expectations and has proved to be an outstanding success with both my boys. I only wished we lived in Colchester so we could attend more lessons, perhaps one day!
